Good morning, beautiful people of Calgary!

Saturday's forecast is calling for 18°C. In March. That is not a typo. I am both excited and highly suspicious.

On a less fun note, water restrictions are back on March 9 for about four weeks while crews reinforce the Bearspaw South Feeder Main. You know the routine: three-minute showers, full loads only, flush with intention.

We have a gym locker warning you will want to read before your next workout, Heritage Park just fired up a new locomotive for the first time in decades, and the weekend is packed — Les Mis at the Jubilee, disco at the Jack Singer, two Hitmen games, and a lot more.

We are also putting together a patio roundup for when this warm weather decides to stay. Got a favourite spot? Hit reply and let us know.

Let's get to it.

Water restrictions are back on Monday. The Bearspaw South Feeder Main needs more reinforcement repairs starting March 9. Outdoor watering is off the table for the next four weeks. We need to keep our daily water use below 500 million litres to stay out of the red zone. Keep your showers to three minutes. Only run full loads of laundry. The finish line is in sight if we all pitch in. Read the details

A heads-up for your next gym session. Local fitness centres are dealing with a frustrating spike in locker room thefts. Police report over 60 cases across the city since November. Thieves are grabbing credit cards from bags at the YMCA, Westside Recreation Centre, and GoodLife while people work out. Not using a padlock is asking for trouble, but thieves are bypassing the cheap ones too. It is a smart time to buy a heavy-duty lock or just leave your valuables at home. Nobody wants to finish a spin class only to find their wallet missing. Read the warning

Ride a 1950s locomotive through Heritage Park. Heritage Park is firing up a 1951 diesel-electric locomotive for a scenic tour. This is the first new engine added to the Historical Village in almost five decades. The 105-minute ride includes a stop at the Wainwright Hotel for tea and treats. The train runs on select Sundays this month, and tickets are moving fast. Get your tickets

Happy 65th to the Federation of Calgary Communities. March is Community Association Awareness Month. We have 160 different community associations run by an army of 20,000 volunteers. They are the people operating the local sports and recreation programs right in your neighbourhood. You can support your community by buying a membership or showing up to their next event. This is Timber. He is a one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky mix who has been waiting at the shelter since mid-January. Weighing in at 53 pounds, he is classified as a "Hidden Gem." This means his adoption fee is just $100 plus GST.

Timber is energetic and views every day as an excuse for an outdoor excursion. His primary hobby is squirrel patrol. Because of this, a home with cats or small animals is out of the question.

He is living in a foster home and gets along great with other dogs. He knows how to sit and shake a paw. He takes his treats with perfect manners. Because he has a strong instinct to roam, he requires a home with secure fences and owners who understand the Husky breed. He needs an active family with older teenagers (16+) who will take him running and hiking. If you want a smart and athletic companion, Timber is ready to go.

How to adopt: Call the City of Calgary Animal Services at 3-1-1. See his profile

This week we have a new Calgary home on the market. Take a good look at the photos and cast your vote.
